Assumptions which could be restricting your growth
Assumptions silently impending your growth
Your actions, behaviour, words – even your most seemingly insignificant inactions – will be closely observed if you are someone who shows willingness and ambition to stick your head out, go for that promotion, start that business or join up and associate with growth leaders and thought leadership
These actions, your behaviour and those things you say – that, then shape the perceptions and behaviours of others towards you.[/vc_column_text]
By reflecting carefully on these influences and behavioural outcomes, you may recognise opportunities for self-development and strategic behaviour that can reshape your growth performance and outcomes, how you are perceived and how others behave towards you.
Note, read that again, it’s important you understand that.
Some say: Assumptions are mental shortcuts, assumptions are unavoidable, and we give our assumptions more authority and power than they deserve.
Assumptions are dangerous at the worst of times and can be disadvantageous at the best of times. But I bet my boots that most of us are unaware of our own. But see the trick it is, we can without a doubt list those of others.
Even though this may read like I’m stating the obvious but:
Some real-world examples that could be silently impeding your progress: (and I plead guilty to some)
+ Fixed Mindset Assumption: Assuming your skills and abilities are fixed can limit your willingness to learn and adapt.
+ Imposter Syndrome: Feeling undeserving of your success can undermine your confidence and hinder progress.
+ Fear of Failure: Assuming failure is unacceptable may prevent you from taking necessary risks for growth.
+ Overestimating Others: Believing that others are more competent can hold you back from showcasing your own capabilities.
Challenging assumptions is a pivotal step in your journey toward growth.
Understanding these subtle barriers that assumptions can create, (that you create) you empower yourself to redefine your narrative, alter perceptions, and foster an environment conducive to continuous advancement and growth. It can in retrospect, reshape your growth performance and outcomes, how you are perceived and how others behave towards you positively.
So maybe after some introspection, begin with a conscious awareness of your assumptions and reshape that path that can silently be impeding your growth.
